"The power, indeed, of every individual is small, and the consequence of his endeavours imperceptible in a general prospect of the world. Providence has given no man ability to do much, that something might be left for every man to do. The business of life is carried on by a general cooperation; in which the part of any single man can be no more distinguished, than the effect of a particular drop when the meadows are floated by a summer shower: yet every drop increases the inundation, and every hand adds to the happiness or misery of mankind."

Apples and black berries, crocodiles and rings… These are a few of my favourite things! But, in fact, this isn’t true.

Spent today in the searing heat chasing black berries and oil paintings, notes and lollies. Now the cicadas are scratching against the window outside but I’m not scared anymore.

“Never tell your resolution beforehand, or it’s twice as onerous a duty.” John Selden

I’ve never been one for making resolutions at the start of each year, but have rather promised myself to make each year better than the last. The past few years have shown me new experiences and opportunities for broadening my perspective. Each year is fantastic. Each year is different. Each year is better in unique ways. I don’t have to make a resolution this first day of January because every day of the year is a new opportunity for change. All it takes is you committing to a new idea.

“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language, and next year’s words await another voice.” T. S. Eliot
